Discovering faces and places of Ferzo wines, in collaboration with Paesaggi d’Abruzzo
Ortona, September 21st, 2017 – The first edition of “Ferzo on the road”, was held on Sunday, September 17th : a trip to discover faces and places of Ferzo wines, carried out in partnership with Paesaggi d’Abruzzo,a network dedicated to Abruzzo appeals, whose community/fanpage on Facebook has 180.000 members and an average of 300.000 weekly contacts.
An intense day, that involved blogger and photo-amateurs in a “vintage trip” aboard the legendary Volkswagen van, to visit the terroirs from which Ferzo wines originate and, at the same time, to tell Abruzzo by capturing without filters the authenticity of vineyards and winegrowers of this Region during their daily activities.
The route has crossed the whole province of Chieti, with four main stops: the first one in Torrevecchia Teatina in the “hill vineyards” tasting Passerina Abruzzo Superiore DOP Ferzo pairing with the “breakfast of vintners”, sweet and salty, from cold cuts to typical sweets, including Sise di Monaca by Guardiagrele.
The second stop has been in Casalbordino with the wonderful panorama of the “sea vineyards” and the tasting of Montepulciano Ferzo paired with sweet taralli with mosto cotto (literally “cooked must”) and celli pieni with scrucchiata (cakes with a typical grape jam).
The last stop was in the “piedmont vineyards” in Fara Filiorum Petri (250 m. a. s. l.) in the astonishing framework of the Majella mountain” , where the group has been welcomed by a family of winegrowers with a tasty lunch based on traditional food of Abruzzo prepared by “La Locanda degli Amici” restaurant in Villamagna.
“It was an unexpected day, full of emotions – declared Alessandro Di Nisio of Paesaggi d’Abruzzo – that allowed us to visit beautiful places and get in contact with the most genuine winegrowers of Abruzzo. I think is a very interesting initiative because it helps promoting Abruzzo 360 degrees, showing its wonderful territories together with its people and culture”.
“Ferzo on the Road” is just one of the events related to the promotion of Ferzo Wines, which went on the whole 2017 summer: Ferzo sail boat, indeed, landed in several cities: Pescara, Francavilla, Fossacesia, Rocca San Giovanni, Lanciano – declared Simona D’Alicarnasso and Pina D’Eusanio, in charge of communication for Ferzo Wines – In this trip we got off the sail boat and got in a vintage van, to tell the story of the small and selected high quality terroir and people that, especially during the harvest, give their best to make the wines of this line, with the aim of promoting the autochthonous grapes of our Region and representing Abruzzo wines at their best.
